Implant Dentist Mentoring in the East Midlands

As part of my role as a tutor for the Implant Diploma for the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners based at the Royal College of Surgeons in London, I have had a number of years experience as a mentor for the students of the diploma. I have mentored many candidates with limited implant experience through their education to a point where they can confidently and safely place and restore implants on their own patients in their own practice.

As part of my implant referral basis I can offer this same mentoring service to dentists on a one to one basis or in group format, who would like to become involved in implant treatment either at surgical or restorative level. This unique service enables the dentist to acquire the necessary skills to assess, treatment plan and carry out implant placement and restore cases with confidence on their own patients under my guidance at the outset. This can form part of the necessary postgraduate training that dentists require, to carry out Implantology to a competent level. More advanced techniques, such as bone augmentation with biomaterials or autogenous grafts can also be taught once a level of competency has been attained.

Alongside dental implant training for dentists I am able to provide didactic training for support staff. Dentists are able to bring along their whole implant team to see how a surgery can be set up safely to carry out dental implant placement. My role as an implant practice inspector for the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners enables me to confidently assess the suitability of surgeries to carry out Implantology and offer advice as to where improvements, if needed, can be made.
